The Grand Mosque of Mecca at night

Umrah: Makkah and Madina

Both holy cities in one trip, with the Haramain link and accommodation chosen by its distance from the mosques.

The trip combines Makkah, for the rites at Masjid al-Haram, and Madina, for Masjid an-Nabawi. Which comes first depends on the flights: arrival is through Jeddah, about 90 kilometres from Makkah, or directly into Madina.

Between the two cities, the Haramain high-speed line takes a little over two hours via Jeddah, against four to five hours by road.

The one thing that changes the trip most is how far the hotel is from the mosque: it sets the number of daily journeys, and it weighs heavily for older pilgrims. Visa requirements are checked at the time of booking, as they change regularly.

Frequently asked questions

Can Umrah be performed all year round?

Yes. Unlike Hajj, whose rites fall on fixed dates in the month of Dhul Hijjah, Umrah can be performed at any point in the year.

How many nights in each city?

The usual split gives slightly more nights to Makkah than to Madina, but it is decided with you according to the flights, the time of year and the accommodation chosen.
